The ex-educator resigned from her position at IKM-Manning Middle School in August after a report alleged she was sending inappropriate photos of a sexual nature to students.

Kraus was placed on leave and a police investigation ensued.

It is alleged she sent inappropriate photos through Snapchat on or around May.

She was charged with a felony count of third-degree sexual abuse, two felony counts of lascivious acts with a child, and three misdemeanour counts of sharing obscene materials to minors, reports the Des Moines Register newspaper.

A press release from the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office obtained by local media alleged Kraus “engaged in multiple sexually oriented acts with three different students, the youngest of which being 13” while employed as a teacher.

It is understood Kraus attended the same middle school she taught at and her alleged victims attended.

She reportedly posted a $10,000 on Friday morning and was released from jail.

If found guilty of the alleged crimes, Kraus will face up to 31 years in prison and more than $43,000 (£35,000) in fines.

According to her Facebook profile, she only just got married in July.

The 24-year-old is scheduled to face court again on Thursday.

It comes after an alcoholic headteacher who sexually assaulted two young female pupils was jailed last month.

Angus Blackmore, 59, “isolated” and groomed the girls, who were both under 13 and had special educational needs.

The attacks – one of which was seen by a colleague – happened at two schools in High Wycombe between 2015 and 2018.
