THE 170th edition of the Boat Race gets underway as Cambridge and Oxford face off on the River Thames.
Cambridge have dominated the races in recent years, with a narrow 87-81 lead over the Oxford Blues men historically, having won five of the last six to extend their lead.
Cambridge’s women are well ahead, with a record of 48-30 from 78 races.
This year’s race has been smeared with controversy over player eligibility with Olympic gold medallist Tom Ford at the thick of discourse as Oxford maintained he was ineligible to row for rival since he began his undergraduate studies more than 12 years ago.
The issue then grew to include THREE additional potential Cambridge rowers, all of whom are pursuing PGCE credentials, which Oxford claims makes them unable to row.
