Maniacs like Anjem Choudary should be locked in solitary – the world is better place if he never speaks to another soul

Silence them

FOR years Anjem Choudary was naively dismissed as a harmless blowhard.

Police indulged his hate-mongering. TV broadcasters often interviewed him as an amusingly over-the-top eccentric.

We now know his Islamist poison has been linked to, or directly inspired, 35 terrorists including the murderers of Lee Rigby and the London Bridge and Fishmongers’ Hall killers.

And it is feared he may also have influenced Hashem Abedi inside the prison separation unit they shared.

These were a good idea in principle, preventing extremists from radicalising ordinary lags.

But if they have become hothouses for violent plots against guards they must be reconsidered.

At the very least, kitchens or other equipment capable of being used as a weapon must be removed.

Why not lock all these maniacs in solitary? Most seem beyond rehabilitation.

If Choudary never speaks to another living soul the world will be better for it.

Putin’s pal

TWO Russian missiles kill 34 innocent Ukrainians and wound 119 — and the US President’s first instinct is to make an excuse for Putin.

How has it come to this?

When Donald Trump says “I was told they made a mistake”, told by who? Putin? His aides?

Or Trump’s own sidekicks, apparently as keen as him to whitewash Kremlin war crimes?

The Sumy attack was monstrous.

Ballistic missiles annihilated a bus carrying victims, including children, to Palm Sunday church services.

And the US President, who once vowed to end the war in a day, scrambles to find Putin a defence while the tyrant in Moscow sniggers at him.

It is a sorry sight, even for many Trump voters.

Slaves to China

TIME and again our politicians talk tough on China, then capitulate once in power.

An estimated one million Muslims are slaves of that wicked tyranny.

Our Governments become slaves to its money.

Treasury Minister James Murray insists China is not a “hostile state”.

What drivel.

One of its companies, run by an ex-Communist Party official, just tried to close down British steel-making forever to make us permanently reliant on its imports. That’s a hostile act.

China hacks and steals worldwide, including here.

It destroyed freedom in Hong Kong.

It unleashed Covid, then concocted a tale about “wet markets” to cover its ineptitude or malice.

It is preparing to invade Taiwan.

Yet Labour still refuses to rule out Chinese involvement in our steel, while trusting it to make our wind farms, and other tech vital to the power grid.

We cannot afford to do no business with the world’s second biggest economy.

Critical infrastructure should be a no-no.
