THE top 50 best combos of all time include fish and chips, Del Boy and Rodney – and fries and milkshake.

A study of 2,000 adults revealed the things that are better together than they are apart with Tom and Jerry, bacon and eggs and tea and biscuits also making the list.

Others included animated favourites such as Wallace and Gromit, Scooby Doo and Shaggy, and Shrek and Donkey.

While popular real-life combos were Prince William and Catherine, Ant and Dec, and Wrexham football owners and Hollywood favourites Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

Food featured heavily, taking up 15 places in the top 20 – with Brits loving nothing more than the combination of bread and butter, strawberries and cream and cereal with a cuppa.

The study was commissioned by Kellogg’s to launch The Kellogg’s Kombos Café, where customers can pick from 25 iconic Kellogg’s cereals, combining their top two for a fun and tasty take on the breakfast favourite.

A spokesperson said: “For so many things, a combination of the two is often much better than when it’s on its own.

“You can combine all of the best bits of the different things you like and save yourself a whole lot of time trying to choose between the two.

“Foods are often combined together to mix the taste or texture – and many love to do this with their cereal. Why should you have to pick just one?”

The study also found 88 per cent believe there are some things that are simply much better when combined, with salt and vinegar, cheese and onion, and gin and tonic also featuring in the top 50 best combinations.

While fictional characters such as Batman and Robin, Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson, and Gavin and Stacey were popular as well.

But it emerged the combinations stray into Brits’ own lives with 47 per cent of those who eat cereal admitting to mixing two different types together – and 29 per cent admitted to doing so as an adult.

Nearly half (46 per cent) think it tastes better that way while 40 per cent do it with two options that complement each other.

Others simply think it’s a fun thing to do (32 per cent), enjoy the different textures (24 per cent) or can’t decide which one to pick (22 per cent).

And one in 20 (five per cent) even mix four or more different types together.

While 63 per cent of the cereal combiners polled, via OnePoll, even went as far as to say they love doing so, with 35 per cent so keen on it, they have recommended it to someone else.

It also found 87 per cent adults tuck into cereal, but while 91 per cent opt to have it the ‘traditional’ way – for breakfast – 34 per cent turn to it when they want a snack.

While 13 per cent make up a bowl for lunch and 10 per cent do the same for dinner.

A spokesperson for Kellogg’s added: “For many, breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and we don’t want it to be boring.

“Mixing your cereals can brighten up your day, so we wanted to make it as easy as possible for people to tuck into their two favourite cereals in one bowl.”
