Some fans think Howey looks like former Newcastle owner Mike AshleyGetty
Howey spent 11 years at Newcastle before moving to Manchester City
The ex-England international amassed a total of seven goals and 11 assists in 238 appearances with the Magpies.
That was before the now 51-year-old went on to play for the likes of Manchester City, Leicester, Bolton, New England Revolution, Hartlepool United and Bishop Auckland.
And that is none other than Steve Howey, who shared some interesting insight during his latest TV appearance.
However, some fans struggled to recognise him and one of them even thought he was another former Newcastle personality.
A fan tweeted: “Steve Howey has morphed into Mike Ashley!”
This comes after former owner Ashley sold the Toon to a consortium, which included Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund.
The sale took place two years ago and saw Ashley becoming richer by £300million.
The PIF now control 80 per cent of the club along with the Reuben brothers and Amanda Staveley, who hold 10 per cent each.
