LIAM SMITH is primed to fight the winner between Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn – but he does not give a s***.

Eubank and Benn were first set to meet in a 157lb catchweight clash in October 2022 until the bout got dramatically axed with just days to go.

Benn tested positive for clomifene – a substance known to boost testosterone – and fought to protest his innocence.

Meanwhile Eubank instead fought Smith and was knocked out in a shock January 2023 upset.

But Eubank won the rematch seven months later and Smith is yet to return having been pulled out of his September fight with Josh Kelly due to illness.

The former WBO light-middleweight champion now faces Aaron McKenna on Saturday on the undercard of Eubank vs Benn at Tottenham’s stadium.

He is linked with fighting the winner but Smith told DAZN: “Selfishly, I don’t give a s*** about the main event.

“I just need to win, announce that I’m back and then I’ll speak to you about the main event or call out the winner whatever it may be.”

Benn, 28, later had his provisional UK Anti-Doping ban lifted which allowed him to fight on British soil again.

In the midst of his doping saga, he took his career to America for two wins up at light-middleweight.

Eubank, 35, stopped Kamil Szeremeta, also 35, in seven rounds last October in Saudi Arabia to set up his blockbuster with Benn.

Smith, 36, meanwhile finally returns against Irishman McKenna, 25, who is 19-0 with ten knockouts.

And he said: “Aaron McKenna is coming to try and finish my career but it’s not time just yet.”
