Brexit sellout

LABOUR’S grand “reset” of relations with the EU now has an almost daily stench of Brexit sellout.

It’s absurd that the Government is considering ceding British waters to French trawlers in return for the right to sell arms to European allies.

And accepting edicts from Brussels on how to produce our food and other goods — so-called dynamic alignment — would make us a rule-taker all over again.

Perhaps craziest of the lot, though, is the plan to open our borders to Europe’s under-30s as part of the EU’s “Youth Mobility” scheme.

How does having potentially hundreds of thousands of young workers flooding into the UK help tackle already out-of-control immigration?

Yes, it will be limited — initially — to two years.

But once the scheme starts who would bet on it ever being scrapped?

It’s nothing short of freedom of movement by the backdoor.

We pray the Prime Minister doesn’t fall for Treasury spin on the supposed merits of open borders — and listens to his Home Secretary, who has the good sense to be opposed to this barmy idea.

LOTO Bottle

BEING Leader of the Opposition is a thankless task.

It’s hard to get a hearing, and plots and back-biting are par for the course.

Kemi Badenoch’s strategy has been to resist jumping on the latest passing political bandwagon, and stick to what she believes in.

Yesterday, as she skewered Sir Keir Starmer’s endless contortions on whether women can have penises, it paid off.

She will know better than most that the battle on women’s rights is far from won, though.

Labour MPs — still beholden to trans extremists — will need holding permanently to account on this and other woke madness.

Judge dreadful

THE catalogue of death, mayhem and misery caused by Rawal Rehman shames our justice system.

Despite being involved in a fatal hit and run, he had an already-lenient sentence of 45 months cut to three years.

Dealing cocaine as part of an armed gang earned him another 11 years — but he was freed after serving just half.

Now a three-year-old girl is dead — a second life claimed by Rehman’s driving — because our courts and parole boards repeatedly side with monsters instead of victims.

The only justice for little Lulu Palmisano now will be for Rehman to get what he truly deserves — and be locked up for life.
