Howe, 47, was missing from the dugout during games against Manchester United, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa.

Assistant Jason Tindall had taken charge of the team in the absence of the manager.

He led the Magpies to impressive romps against Man United and Palace before losing to Villa on Saturday.

The club has now confirmed that he is back working at the training ground with the players.

A statement read: “Newcastle United are delighted to confirm that Eddie Howe has returned to his duties at the club’s training Centre.

“Eddie had recently been hospitalised with pneumonia and has now returned to work after a period of recovery.

“We thank supporters for their warm wishes.”

Howe initially believed that he had flu but was later diagnosed with pneumonia by doctors.
