A WOMAN was allegedly raped after a sexual assault in broad daylight as cops arrest an 18-year-old.
Devon and Cornwall Police were called to Bridge Street, in Uffculme, at around 3.40pm on Friday, April 18.
Cops arrested an 18-year-old man, from Tiverton, on suspicion of rape, sexual assault on a female and malicious communications.
He has been released on bail amid ongoing investigations.
The force have urgently appealed for more information.
They wish to track down two boys may have witnessed the alleged attack.
The pair were cycling on the bridge or a nearby footpath between 3.30pm and 3.45pm.
They had left the scene when officers arrived.
A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “Detectives investigating the assault would like to hear from two boys who may have witnessed the incident or seen the victim.
“They were cycling on the bridge or nearby footpath between 3.30pm and 3.45pm but had gone by the time officers arrived.
“Detectives from Exeter CID would like to speak with them as they may hold vital information to assist with enquiries. They are also keen to hear from any other witnesses who have not yet spoken to police.
