PRESIDENT Donald Trump has lashed out at Amazon for their fiery stance on his escalating trade war.

Amazon is set to display how much Trump’s tariffs are adding to the price of each of its products on its website, according to bombshell reports on Tuesday.

The online retailer is reportedly making the move because it doesn’t want to take the blame for skyrocketing prices caused by Trump’s trade war, according to Punchbowl News.

Punchbowl’s initial report said Amazon’s site will show shoppers how much of an item’s cost is made up of the new tariffs, right next to the product’s total price.

However, Amazon fired back in a statement clarifying the e-commerce giant is only considering the move for one of its sites.

“The team that runs our ultra low cost Amazon Haul store has considered listing import charges on certain products,” Amazon explained in a statement, according to the Washington Post.

“This was never a consideration for the main Amazon site and nothing has been implemented on any Amazon properties.”

Before the clarification, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt was quick to bash the decision.

At a press briefing with Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to celebrate the president’s first 100 days in office on Tuesday, she said Trump disapproves of the idea.

“This is a hostile and political act by Amazon,” Leavitt told reporters.

“Why didn’t Amazon do this when the Biden administration hiked inflation to the highest level in 40 years?” she asked.

“It’s not a surprise because, as Reuters recently wrote, Amazon has partnered with a Chinese propaganda arm,” she continued, holding up a picture of Bezos in a 2021 article by Reuters.

The report Leavitt referenced was when Amazon came under fire for marketing a collection of speeches by Chinese President Xi Jinping in 2019.

At the time, Amazon partnered with a Chinese propaganda arm to create a portal where shoppers couldn’t see ratings and comments on books.

“So this is another reason why Americans should buy American,” Leavitt continued.

She also said the move showed anti-Trump sentiment because it wasn’t done when former President Joe Biden put tariffs in place.

When questioned about Trump’s relationship with Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, Leavitt declined to comment.

“I will not speak to the president’s relationships with Jeff Bezos, but I will tell you that this is certainly a hostile and political action by Amazon,” she said.

It comes after Bezos and Trump have appeared to have a friendship in recent years.

The billionaire even supported Trump at his inauguration in January, bringing his fiancée, Lauren Sánchez, and donating $1 million to the event.

However, the two bosses haven’t always been tight.

During Trump’s first campaign in 2016, Bezos criticized the president’s rhetoric and joked about sending him to space.

But the pair came together after the assassination attempt on Trump during his campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, in July 2024.

The day after the election, Bezos praised Trump for an “extraordinary political comeback and decisive victory.”

Following Leavitt’s remarks on Tuesday, Amazon shares dropped more than 2% in premarket trading.

It comes as other fast-fashion giants, Shein and Temu, have warned customers about the possibility that prices could rise by 125% due to the tariffs.
