THE incredible plans for a new town set to transform an “empty” corner of the UK have been revealed.
Plans to regenerate Holt Town, Manchester have been approved which will see the area transform into a “new woodland town”.

Sandwiched between Ancoats, Beswick and New Islington, the new town will span 30 hectares and feature a lido and 1km long “play-link”.
The project has been dubbed the “first of its kind in Manchester” with locals sharing in the enthusiasm at the prospect of a sparkling new Holt Town.
In addition to new play spaces for young people, it will take a digital first approach that will “better connect the community” with local services.
The glittering project has also provided for plenty of green spaces with young people and locals in mind.
Council leader Bev Craig said: “This neighbourhood will represent a people first focus around active travel, green spaces, new play spaces for young people.
“And a digital first approach that will better connect the community with local services.”
But despite the ambitious plans, councillors have warned there will be some setback along the way – namely the cost of the project.
MCR Property Group announced last it week it had bought three plots of land in the area and will be building some 2,000 homes, reports Manchester Evening News.
Nick Lake, Fund Director at the firm, said: “As our second former gasworks site in the city, we will be able to apply our proven expertise in unlocking brownfield land for transformational development and we are looking forward to contributing to the wider Holt Town regeneration.”
Details of the proposed homes have not yet been released.
This comes as a busy market town located just outside of London is set to undergo a £425million upgrade.
Three major redevelopment projects are set to take place in the area this year.
One of Guildford’s developments will see the construction of 183 new homes along the town’s riverfront.
St Mary’s Wharf is a 310,000 square foot redevelopment of the town’s former Debenhams.
The demolition of the department store is expected to be completed by late August, with the overall project set to conclude by 2030.
Located in the centre of Guildford, the site will include affordable homes, ranging from one to five bedrooms.
The £125 million project will also see the addition of restaurants and business spaces for further shops, cafes, and bars.
An acre of new public riverside walkways and gardens will also be created as part of the development.
This will provide direct access to the Guildford’s River Wey from the High Street for the first time in more than 50 years.
Designed by architect Squire & Partners, the buildings will be fossil fuel-free and net zero carbon in operation, and will enhance local biodiversity with green roofs as well as the addition of 50 trees.
