TWO major motorways are closed in both directions due to a lorry fire and serious crash.
The M1 in South Yorkshire has been shut with drivers warned to re-route or delay their journeys.

Meanwhile, the M20 in Kent is also closed in both directions after a lorry erupted into flames earlier this morning.
On the M1 closure, a statement from National Highways says: “The M1 in South Yorkshire is closed in both directions between J36 (Hoyland) and J37 (Barnsley) due to a serious collision.
Emergency services including South Yorkshire Police are in attendance. National Highways Traffic Officers are also on scene assisting with traffic management.
If this closure impacts on your planned route, please allow extra journey time. Plan ahead, you may wish to re-route or even delay your journey.”
On the M20 closure, it adds: “The M20 in Kent is closed in both directions between J11 (Westenhanger) and J12 (Cheriton) due to a lorry fire.
Emergency services including Kent Police are in attendance. National Highways Traffic Officers are also on scene assisting with traffic management.”
Diversions are currently in place for both closures.

M1
Road users travelling southbound are advised to follow the hollow triangle on road signs:
Leave the M1 at J37 and at the roundabout take the 3rd exit onto the A628.
Follow the A628 for approx. 5 miles to the roundabout with the A629 and take the 1st exit onto the A629.
Continue for approx. 6 miles to the junction with the A616 and turn left onto the A616.
Follow the A616 back to the M1 southbound J35A and take the 1st exit to rejoin the M1 southbound.
Road users travelling northbound are advised to follow the solid square symbol on road signs:
Leave the M1 at J36 and at the roundabout take the 1st exit onto the A61.
Follow the A61 for approx. 1 mile until the junction with the A616 and at the roundabout take the 3rd exit onto the A616.
Continue on the A616 for 3 miles to the junction with the A629. At the junction turn left onto the loop road and then turn left again onto the A629.
Follow the A629 for approx. 6 miles to the junction with the A628 and at the roundabout take the 3rd exit onto the A628.
Continue on the A628 for approx. 5 miles back to the M1 J37 and at the roundabout take the 1st exit onto the M1 northbound.
M20
Eastbound traffic is advised to follow the hollow circle diversion symbol on road signs.
Exit the M20 eastbound at J11 and join the A20 (Ashford Road)
Continue to re-join the M20 at J12.
Westbound traffic is advised to follow the hollow square diversion symbol on road signs.
Exit the M20 westbound at J12 and join the A20 (Ashford Road)
Continue to re-join the M20 at J11
