The horror came after he allegedly slashed his housemate Javed Nouri six times at a migrant hostel in Hartlepool.

Alid, 44, has now been charged with two counts of assaulting emergency workers by beating.

The Old Bailey was told the fresh charges relate to his alleged conduct during a police interview following his arrest.

Moroccan national Alid, who used an Arabic interpreter, appeared via video link from HMP Frankland for the hearing today.

The court was previously told the criminal investigation is still at an early stage but is believed to be “motivated by terrorism“.

Police raced to the scene at around 6am after Javed was knifed in the chest, legs and mouth.

Alid then allegedly ventured outside where he stabbed Terrence in the chest and neck.

He was charged following an investigation by Counter-Terrorism Policing North East and Cleveland Police.

Alid was remanded into custody ahead of a plea hearing on February 16 at Teesside Crown Court.
