A NURSERY worker has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault as Ofsted shuts down the site.
Child First nursery in Moulton, Northamptonshire, was closed with immediate effect after the allegations came to light on May 8.
Cops have detained an employee on suspicion of sexual assault.
A joint investigation has been launched by Northamptonshire Police, Ofsted and the Local Authority Designated Officer.
Ofsted confirmed they will “monitor the suspension” in line with the probe.
A spokesperson for the force said: “Safeguarding measures have also been put in place in response to this allegation.
“As this is a live investigation, it would be inappropriate to comment further at this time.”
A spokesperson for Child First nursery in Moulton said: “We can confirm that a member of staff has been arrested by police on suspicion of sexual assault.
“The nursery remains temporarily closed while an investigation is carried out by the Police, Ofsted and the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO).
“We are fully cooperating with the authorities and, due to the ongoing investigation, we are unable to comment further at this time.
“The wellbeing and safety of the children in our care is our highest priority.”
A spokesperson for Ofsted said: “Children’s safety is our priority and we suspended this nursery on 9 May because we had reasonable cause to believe that children may be exposed to a risk of harm.
“We will monitor the suspension in line with our guidance and continue to work with other agencies on this matter.”
