A member of the public discovered the dead kittens, which had been dismembered, and phoned police.

An urgent probe was launched but no arrests have been made.

The Met has now released CCTV of two teenagers they are hoping to speak to in connection with the horror.

It shows the pair walking along a residential street together clutching a black bag.

The teens can then be seen running quickly along the same stretch of road.

Police said the boy is around 5ft 6ins with short dark hair and was wearing a dark jacket with long sleeves and blue jeans.

He was also seen carrying a black duffel bag, which is thought to have contained the kittens.

The girl is also around 5ft 6ins with long red hair. She was wearing a white top with black shorts and was carrying a purple jumper, which she later put on.

Police Sergeant Babs Rock from the Met has turned to the public to ask for assistance. She said: “This is an incredibly distressing incident which I know has caused concern in the local community.

“If you know these two individuals then please come forward to us, we would like to speak with them as soon as possible.”
