Klopp, 57, ended up taking a role with Red Bull last October, becoming their Head of Global Soccer.

The former Kop chief, however, has been linked with a return to the dugout in recent months.

And according to sensational reports in Italy, he’s on course to become Roma’s new gaffer.

That’s according to LaStampa, who claim the former Mainz and Borussia Dortmund boss has struck an agreement to replace Claudio Ranieri.

It’s claimed Klopp has been in talks with the Serie A giants about taking the job for some time.

And LaStampa claim he’s said to have given Roma president Dan Friedkin – who is also the chairman of Everton – the okay last Sunday.

Klopp is said to have agreed to take charge of the Giallorossi after snubbing the advances of another club.

Roma gave Ranieri an emotional send-off last weekend before their home match with AC Milan.

The 73-year-old, who came out of retirement to steer take charge of the club and steer them away from the relegation zone, said: “I am still feeling the adrenaline!

“When I watch this footage back, I will maybe feel even more touched.

“It is wonderful, because feeling appreciated by your own people is always something marvellous.

“We started out in a difficult situation, but the team never lost its way.

“I thank the players, because it was not at all easy in that situation, when everything seemed bleak.

“I am so happy for them, for the fans and for the President.”

Anfield legend Klopp stepped back from management last summer due to burnout.

In an emotional departure statement, he said: “I love absolutely everything about this club, I love everything about the city.

“I love everything about our supporters, I love the team, I love the staff. I love everything.

“But that I still take this decision shows you that I am convinced it is the one I have to take.

“It is that I am, how can I say it, running out of energy.

“I have no problem now, obviously, I knew it already for longer that I will have to announce it at one point, but I am absolutely fine now.

“I know that I cannot do the job again and again and again and again.

“After the years we had together and after all the time we spent together and after all the things we went through together.

“The respect grew for you, the love grew for you and the least I owe you is the truth – and that is the truth.”
