It’s an outrage that Southport tweeter was treated worse than a sex offender – but I know what Two-Tier Keir’s game is

THE law is not an ass – but judges frequently are. And they are at their most stupid when they appear to have been politically co-opted.

Lucy Connolly’s appeal has been rejected by a pompous, public school trio in the appeal courts.

A Tory councillor’s wife Lucy Connolly will stay in jail after an appeal bid against her ‘harsh’ sentence for a racist social media post was thrown out

She is the woman with no previous convictions who was sentenced to 31 months for tweeting something horrible about asylum seekers.

That was during those riots last summer. When an awful lot of people received very peremptory justice for saying stuff online.

Everybody could see that Connolly’s sentence was ludicrously severe. Utterly inappropriate for the crime.

Everybody, that is, except Sir Keir Starmer, who tried to claim he didn’t know the details of the case.

And the Appeal Court judges, led by Lord Justice Tim Nice-But-Dim Holroyde. Well, actually not that nice.

Connolly got a longer sentence than has been doled out recently to sex offenders, domestic abusers, robbers, burglars, stabbers . . . and everybody knows why.

It’s because the new Labour government wanted swift justice handed down to these “racists”. So these were political crimes, then.

And as Boris Johnson said, it is as if we were in a police state.

The judges concluded: “There is no arguable basis on which it could be said that the sentence imposed by the judge was manifestly excessive.”

For the rest of us, watching these proceedings in mounting fury, the precise reverse was the case.

There seems no arguable basis on which it could be said that the sentence imposed WASN’T manifestly excessive.

Lucy’s distraught husband, Conservative councillor Ray Connolly, fumed: “The court had the opportunity to reduce her cruelly long and disproportionate sentence, but they refused.”

And Lucy’s barrister said: “They have basically deemed her racist and they’ve decided that that is the ultimate moral sin. Perhaps it is in their world.

“We now have a Labour-supporting establishment and it is their inherent moral evil that the minute you can get painted as a racist, even though you’re obviously not a racist, you become a second-rate citizen.”

This is precisely the case and it is hugely damaging to our society.

AFPWhat has happened to Lucy Connolly is a scandal – and it is a scandal which involves the judges AND the government[/caption]

It means we lose all faith in our legal system — if we ever had any in the first place — when such outrageous miscarriages of justice occur.

For a long while now, the courts have operated a two-tier system for sentencing. And they do that because, just as the right-wingers say, we live in a two-tier country.

There are the asylum seekers who judges will seemingly not deport, no matter what heinous crimes they may have committed.

And similarly the eco-protestors who cause misery and mayhem, but are praised by idiot judges for their commitment to the cause.

And then, while people who tweeted nasty stuff about those asylum seekers get banged up in Starmer’s state without so much as a by-your-leave, the Government refuses to hold an inquiry into the rape-gangs scandal which implicated so many Asian- Muslim men up and down the country.

What has happened to Lucy Connolly is a scandal.

And it is a scandal which involves the judges AND the Government. In collusion. When that happens, we are no longer living in a free country.

WHAT possible motive can two Ukrainians and a Romanian have for a series of alleged arson attacks against Sir Keir Starmer’s property?

I think these court cases coming up are going to be very interesting.
And perhaps a bit worrying.

POWER OF X SO NASTY

IT’S the hundredth anniversary of the birth of Malcolm X.

He was the awful civil rights leader who is still revered by some deluded souls in the US.

Such as the charlatans in Black Lives Matter, for instance.

While Martin Luther King preached equality, forgiveness and peace, Malcolm X was in favour of division, hatred and violence.

Never has a public figure been more unjustly adored.

If ever there were statues which deserved to be torn down, Malcolm’s would be the first in line.

Anyone for Peppa sauce?

PAEvie was born at the same maternity hospital the royals use which costs over £7,000 a night for a private room[/caption]

OK, so now Peppa Pig has a lovely new sister, Evie.

But the question everyone has been asking is: How the hell did the family manage to afford a private birth?

Evie was born at the same maternity hospital the royals use, above. It costs over £7,000 a night for a private room.

And yet they don’t seem like a particularly well-off family.

My suspicion is that the Peppa Pig is a front for drug-running, money-laundering and people-trafficking.

Being a lovable character in a kids’ programme is the perfect facade for international crime.

I bet they’ve got hundreds of Albanians and 50 kilos of skag in the outhouse. It’s time we knew the truth.

Incidentally, would you prefer Evie cooked with apple sauce or sage- and-onion stuffing?

I’m an apple sauce man, myself.

WHAT A GARY ON

THE police may now investigate Gary Lineker.

They are considering whether his sharing of a social media post containing an anti- Semitic image may be a hate crime.

So, let me help the police out here.

It DOESN’T constitute a hate crime. And Ol’ Jug Ears has already apologised for sharing the image in error.

So here’s what you do.

Arrest whoever reported Lineker to you, for wasting police time.

And spend the rest of the day apprehending people who have actually committed a crime, such as stabbing somebody, burgling a house or shoplifting.

Stop arresting people for what they say on social media.

RUFF IS ENOUGH SIR KEIR

THE latest migrant to make the crossing from Calais was a nice German shepherd dog.

Yes, it’s so easy to get over the Channel that the economic migrants have started bringing their pets with them.

AFPHas it occurred to Sir Keir Starmer that everyone in the country – and everyone beyond it – thinks his pledge to stop the migrants is just a very unfunny joke?[/caption]

That’s how seriously they take our border security forces.

It’ll be goldfish next, and gerbils.

Anyway, the dog was interviewed along with all the humans, to test for basic English language skills.

So: “How did you find the crossing?”

“Rough.”

“What’s the thing you put on top of a house?”

“Roof.”

“And do you have any message for the people in your new home?

“Yes. Burn in hell, you Christian infidel scum.”

So this doggy is the latest thing that we’re paying for.

It will now go into quarantine. And be given lots of expensive vaccines and so on.

Meanwhile, its owner is being housed at our expense in a hotel.

Has it occurred to Sir Keir Starmer that everyone in the country – and everyone beyond it – thinks his pledge to stop the migrants is just a very unfunny joke?

Oh, the absurdity of “smashing the gangs” . . .

And the tribunals which let people stay no matter what crimes they have committed.

And now, yep, they’re bringing their dogs in as well.

TIME TO STOP IT, ISRAEL

ISRAEL seems intent on losing every friend it has in the world.

Denying the Palestinians aid while the IDF continues razing Gaza to the ground is not the act of a civilised country.

If any other nation in the Middle East behaved that way, it wouldn’t just be trade embargos we’d be talking about.

It would be military action against them.

You won’t find many people more pro-Israel than me. But this has gone too far.
