After years of heartbreak, Tottenham fans were delirious as they celebrate the win that finally brought silverware back to north London.
Wild scenes unfolded at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where thousands had gathered to watch the match on giant screens — and exploded into pandemonium the moment the final whistle blew.
Fans leapt over barriers and flooded the pristine north London pitch in a tide of white shirts and flags.
Wild die hard supporters even climbed on top of the giant screens inside the Tottenham arena as they waved their shirts in the air.
The unlucky goal bounced in off England ace Luke Shaw and was met with a wall of noise from the team in white – ending their 17 year trophy drought.
The scrappy game saw United dominating possession but there were few clear cut chances – betraying both teams’ dismal Premier League form.
A diving header from Red Devils skipper Bruno Fernandes rocketed just wide of the post, and Tottenham’s resolute defending stood firm with the tie living up to its ‘El Crapico’ billing.
Spurs have now scooped a cool £100m jackpot and sending half of the 70,000 British fans in Bilbao deliriously happy.
