The Bristol-born McLaren driver, 25, is hunting down Aussie Oscar Piastri, 24, in the race for the F1 World Drivers’ Championship, having finished runner-up last year.

Fellow Brit Sir Lewis Hamilton — who crashed his Ferrari at 175mph during practice on Saturday — finished in fifth.

The F1 great, 40, was seen on a scooter before the star-studded showpiece on the French Riviera.

His supermodel pal Naomi Campbell, 55, was among the other famous faces, stunning in a white dress and sunglasses.

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, 61, and his 55-year-old fiancee Lauren Sanchez held hands as they strolled along the grid.

Colombian-American star Sofia Vergara, 52, and Brit comedian Michael McIntyre, 49, also watched the action.

Red Bull racing chief Christian Horner, 51 — husband of former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell, 52 — was hard at work.

There are rumours he could leave his role as team principal before his contract ends in 2030 following a poor start to the season.

He insists he intends to see out his deal.
