Rocky as been suffering with injuries in recent months

Rocky has been suffering with injuries in recent months, and missed the first part of the County Championship season because of a back issue.

But he was picked in the squad for the four-day game against India A at the Spitfire Ground in Canterbury.

However, Ashes legend dad Freddie didn’t name the talented batsman in the XI on Friday morning.

Like his old man, Rocky came through the ranks with Lancashire County, signing his first professional deal in June 2024.

A right-handed batsman and right arm fast-medium bowler, he is the youngest player to appear for Lancashire, at 16 years and 113 days.

He is also the youngest to score a match-winning century for the England Under-19s team.

The teenager, who turned 17 last month, was first called up for the Lions against South Africa A in December, before being recalled to face Australia XI a month later.

On the Aussie tour, he broke his dad Freddie’s record as the youngest player to score a Lions century after hitting 126 in Brisbane.

Flintoff Snr began helping England in 2023 following his near-fatal car accident while filming for Top Gear.

The full extent of the retired all-rounder’s injuries were laid bare in a new Disney+ documentary earlier this year.

The star, 47, was dragged nose down for 50 metres in the 2022 horror accident in Dunsfold, Surrey.

He said: “I was frightened to death. I thought I was dead. I was conscious but I couldn’t see anything. I was thinking, ‘Is that it?’

“But I had my hat come over my eyes! So I pulled my hat up and I thought, ‘I’m on the Top Gear track — this isn’t heaven!’

Meanwhile, first team star Chris Woakes will make his return from an ankle injury after being selected for two Lions fixtures with India A.

The 36-year-old has not played since January, but has been named in a 15-man squad for the second-string fixtures, starting on 30 May and 6 June.
