A police cordon covering parts of Forster Street and Tower Square remains in place – with initial emergency calls made at 12.10pm.

A Staffordshire Police spokesperson said: “Officers were called to the junction of Forster Street and Tower Square following reports that a lorry had collided with a woman and two young children who were on foot.

We went to the scene with paramedics from West Midlands Ambulance Service.

One of the children was assessed for injuries that are believed to be minor. The child has been taken to hospital as a precaution.

“The driver of the lorry did not stay at the scene. A cordon has been put in place on Tower Square and Forster Street while enquiries are carried out in the area.”

Police are appealing for witnesses following the collision. They should call the police on 101, quoting incident number 291 of 13 June, or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
