Yet they now tell us this was what they wanted all along.
This Labour government lacks moral courage.
It needed a report to tell them to do something that was obvious to the rest of us.
It’s shameful that it took six months of pressure from the Conservatives.
This has been an extraordinary failure of leadership from the Prime Minister.
Whether it was when I confronted him with the facts at PMQs.
Or the three times he forced Labour MPs to vote against a national inquiry in Parliament.

Or when he accused those of us demanding justice as “jumping on a far-right bandwagon.”
He was more worried about the views of his leftie lawyer mates, than the brave survivors.
For decades they have called for their abusers, and those who covered up the abuse, to be brought to justice.
I’ve spoken to many of them, and it’s clear they have no confidence in the government to deliver.
No one – police, councillors, or council officials – can be beyond scrutiny.
Most importantly, it must be swift.
