PALMERIAS faced Al Ahly in a huge Club World Cup clash at the MetLife Stadium on Thursday.
The Brazilian side was leading 2-0 on 62 minutes, when the game was brought to an immediate halt.

Why was Palmeiras vs Al Ahly at the Club World Cup suspended?
The Club World Cup clash between Palmeiras and Al Ahly was suspended due to adverse weather conditions in the area.
English referee Anthony Taylor stopped play and waved both sets of players indoors.
Fans at MetLife Stadium, where next year’s World Cup final is set to take place, were then instructed to “take shelter” inside the concourse.
A message displayed to fans on big screens around the stadium read: “Your attention please.
“For your safety, we are going to have everyone leave the Seating Bowl area and take shelter inside the stadium because of severe weather in the area.
“Event Staff are available to guide and assist you.
“Those on the field, please walk calmly to the nearest tunnel, to the West Hall, or to the service corridor.”
Fifa protocols state that if lightning is visible or thunder is heard, the match referee must suspend play due to the risk of lightning strikes.
The delay to the match must last for at least 30 minutes and cannot restart until 30 minutes after the last case of lightning or thunder.
The match restarted at 2.15pm local time, 48 minutes after the players were waved off the pitch.
Palmeiras held their nerve after the restart and claimed a 2-0 win, which takes their tally to four points in Group A with one to play.
It wasn’t the first Club World Cup clash to be suspended due to bad weather.
Kick off for Tuesday’s Group F match between Mamelodi Sundowns and Ulsan Hyundai was delayed by 65 minutes due to the threat of lightning.
And Wednesday’s clash between Red Bull Salzburg and Pachuca was stopped for 97 minutes when a severe thunderstorm hit Cincinnati in the 54th minute.
