THIS is the dramatic moment a lorry driver comes to the rescue of a man trapped in a burning building.

Thick plumes of smoke could be seen pouring out from the four-storey property in Granby Row, Dublin, yesterday.

The trapped man is able to jump onto the trailer of the truck

He is then seen safely on the back of the truck

The lorry is shown reversing up as close as possible to the building, allowing the trapped man to jump out a window and safely land on the trailer.

Just before the lorry pulls up, the person can be heard shouting at people on the street for help.

He frantically screams “let me out” as horrified passersby gather below the burning building.

Footage shared online shows the Eurospar lorry arriving, putting its hazard lights on and backing up towards the building.

Taking a leap of faith through the smoke, the man – wearing a black hood and trousers – then jumps several metres onto the roof of the truck.

An audible thud can be heard as he successfully lands on the trailer.

Dublin Fire Brigade confirmed that three people were rushed to hospital after the fire, with seven people treated at the scene.

A spokesperson for the brigade said: “Dublin Fire Brigade was called at 8.13am to reports of a fire in a building off Granby Row.

“On arrival firefighters found a four storey building with a fire located on the third floor.

‘In total, seven people were treated at the scene with three being transported to hospital by two Dublin Fire Brigade ambulances and one National Ambulance Service ambulance.

‘Six fire engines were sent to the incident including a turntable ladder and emergency tender.

‘Breathing apparatus teams were committed to fight and extinguish the fire and it is now under control.

‘Two fire engines remain on scene along with a District Officer and firefighting operations are ongoing. Traffic restrictions are in place and road users should avoid the area.’
