TWO women have been killed after being hit by a car in a horror crash – with a female driver arrested.

Thames Valley Police officers were called to the scene in Caversham, Berkshire, at around 7.55am on Friday.

Cops responded to reports of a blue Volkswagen Tiguan ploughing into two female pedestrians.

The tragedy unfolded on Peppard Road, near the junction of Cedar Wood Crescent.

Two women, aged 70 and 68, were pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Cops arrested a 47-year-old female on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

The driver, from Reading, has been released under investigation.

Thames Valley Police (TVP) is now appealing for any witnesses to come forward with information.

The force are aware of a taxi driver who stopped at the scene, but they have not been able to speak to him as of yet.

A police spokesperson confirmed: “Thames Valley Police is appealing for a specific witness to come forward following a fatal collision in Caversham.

“At around 7.55am on Friday, June 27, a blue Volkswagen Tiguan was involved in a collision with two pedestrians on Peppard Road near the junction of Cedar Wood Crescent.

“Sadly, a 70-year-old woman and a 68-year old woman died at the scene.

“A 47-year-old woman from Reading has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

“She has been released under investigation while enquiries are ongoing.”

Investigating officer PS Matthew Cadmore of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, added: “We are continuing our investigation following this collision and my thoughts remain with the families of those who died.

“We are aware that a taxi driver stopped at the scene following the incident, but at this time we have not been able to speak to him as a witness.

“As such, if you were the taxi driver who stopped at the scene, we would ask you to please come forward with any information you can provide.

“Additionally we would ask anyone who was driving in the area at the time to please review their dash-cam footage and get in touch if it shows anything that may assist our investigation.
