A mouth-watering two weeks for golf lovers on this side of the Atlantic kicks off with the Scottish Open, which boasts a field that would not look out of place at Portrush next week.
Robert MacIntyre pulled off an epic victory in front of his own fans at the Renaissance Club last year, and will need to see off the top five players in the world rankings to defend his title.

Scottish Open betting tips
Considering MacIntyre almost triumphed here in 2023 as well – he looked all over the winner until Rory McIlroy edged him out with a storming finish – the 18-1 on offer looks pretty attractive.
Scottie Scheffler, who finished tied third on his last visit here in 2023, is a clear 7-2 favourite. The calm conditions forecast throughout the week should increase his chances of a fourth win in his last eight starts.
McIlroy is 8-1 to repair his 2023 heroics, while Tommy Fleetwood – who boasts a runner-up finish and two other top sixes in this event – is next best at around 16-1.
But MacIntyre loves playing at home. And he is still on a high after his storming finish almost earned him the US Open title last month. So at these prices, he is the pick of those at the top end of the market.
At 28-1, Adam Scott is a sporting each way bet after finishing runner-up to MacIntyre a year ago. The Aussie continues to threaten a big win in his 40s, with bold performances at the USPGA and US Open confirming there is plenty left in the tank.
Sepp Straka missed the cut in both of those Majors, which no-one could have predicted after an impressive start to 2025, which includes two victories and third place at The Memorial.
The Austrian’s odds have been eased out to 33-1, and the former Open runner-up has enough links know-how to be worth following at that price.
Ryan Fox is another dual winner this year. He has shown plenty of links expertise in the past as well, so the 50-1 in places also looks acceptable.
Matteo Manassero has found a bit of form recently. He also catches the eye at 80-1, while the 150-1 available for the in-form Nico Ecchavarria and Martin Couvra should grab the attention of those looking for three figure odds.
And if you MUST have a bet on the ISCO Championship in Kentucky – featuring the PGA Tour’s lesser lights – Cameron Champ’s resurgence makes the 25-1 on offer a reasonable option.

LIV Valderrama
The LIV stars will warm up for the Open in Valderrama, where Sergio Garcia’s course knowledge helped him clinch a play-off victory a year ago.
Garcia is 16-1 to follow up, and he is in buoyant mood after clinching an Open spot courtesy of the season-long LIV money list. That holds more appeal than the usual short odds on Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm.
Patrick Reed is also worth an interest at the same odds as Garcia, while Louis Oosthuizen’s play-off defeat to Reed in Dallas – plus a share of fourth at Valderrama last year – is enough evidence to justify a small stake at 25-1.
Lucas Herbert’s form has picked up enough to warrant a second look at 33-1. And if Lee Westwood continues to show the form that saw him win last week’s Open qualifier at Dundonald, he could defy his 100-1 quote.
