A BRITISH mum has drowned after being swept away by strong waves in Corfu.
The 50-year-old was swimming with her husband as their teenage son watched from the shore when the tragedy unfolded at Roda beach in the north of the island.

Locals rushed to the couple’s aid as they waited for the emergency services to arrive.
The mother, who has not been named, was pulled unconscious from the water and rushed to a private clinic where she was tragically pronounced dead.
She was then taken to Corfu General Hospital where her husband is being treated for minor injuries and her 16-year-old son is receiving trauma support.
A forensic inquiry into the exact cause of death is underway, according to local reports.
A FCDO Spokesperson said: “We are supporting the family of a British woman who died in Greece and are in touch with the local authorities.”
The tragedy comes just days after a 68-year-old Brit was found dead on the Greek island of Rhodes.
The man had reportedly gone swimming and lost consciousness.
Officers from the Central Port Authority of Rhodes rushed to the scene at the popular tourist spot of Lindos.
He was pulled from the beach unconscious, according to reports.
The man was rushed to the Archangelos Health Centre but was pronounced dead.
His exact cause of death is not yet known.
Meanwhile, a Brit dad died while on holiday in Turkey after being escorted off a plane for being drunk.
Builder Ben Crook from Caerphilly, South Wales had been in Antalya with his partner and two kids to celebrate his 32nd birthday.
But he was escorted off their flight due to behaving erratically on the plane after drinking alcohol.
He was separated from his family who went to the hotel.
But the dad died from a fall before he made it there to join them.
Elsewhere, a two-year-old British boy drowned in a pool at a private villa in Ibiza last month.
The tot was found in the swimming pool without a pulse, local news outlet Diario de Ibiza reported.
