Earlier today, an accident on the M60 led to the road being closed between Bredbury and Denton.

The road is yet to reopen, with a closure between J27 and J24 leading traffic to back up to J4.

Greater Manchester Police and National Highways traffic officers are currently in attendance.

It comes on the second night of Oasis’ Heaton Park performances.

The collision happened at around 2.30pm and led to an air ambulance being called to the scene.

While the air ambulance attended, the clockwise road was also temporarily closed.

The closure was earlier extended from J1 to J24.

Delays of around 30 minutes can be expected.

National Highways said on X: “Investigations and clear up works remain ongoing at scene.”

Around 70,000 fans will be attending tonight’s gig, some of whom could be affected by the closure.

It comes as the M6 is facing delays following another accident.

The M6 southbound has been closed following a lorry suffering a tyre blow out.

It resulted in a nearside verge catching alight.

Delays of around 30 minutes can be expected on the road.

Drivers have been advised to use the M60 clockwise from J5-J17 if they are joining from the M56.

Those looking for alternative routes could get a shuttle bus from Manchester on Lever Street for £10.

A train from Victoria Station towards Bury also stops directly at Heaton Park.
