MANCHESTER United’s hunt for a bargain striker has hit a significant setback with Dusan Vlahovic set to snub a move to Old Trafford in favour of joining AC Milan.

The Serbian forward has been a long-term target for the Red Devils, who have been desperately searching for an affordable option to bolster their front line.

United have already strengthened their squad with the announcement of Matheus Cunha’s £62.5 million move.

Now, they are looking for an established name who could come in and add both experience and hunger without breaking the bank.

Vlahovic scored ten goals for Juventus last season and has once again been linked to United in recent times as Ruben Amorim looks to rebuild the once-great club.

But Sunsport understands that the Serbian forward favours a move to AC Milan, if he agrees a deal with Juventus to go their separate ways this summer.

The 25-year-old has been in the headlines for months, with United among a host of clubs reportedly monitoring his situation at Juventus.

However, while United were thought to be favourites for his signature, Vlahovic is now set to stay in Italy.

Milan are desperate to strengthen their attacking options, and Vlahovic’s potential arrival would be a huge coup for the Italian giants.

Reports from Italy suggest that the deal is already close to completion.

This will be the second blow for Manchester United in the last 24 hours, after news of an injury to goalkeeper Andre Onana.

The Cameroon goalkeeper was expected to remain as the club’s number one for the coming season, but a hamstring injury means United could now have to return to the transfer market.

Recently the 13-time Premier League champions have been offered the chance to sign free agents Jamie Vardy, who left Leicester after the completion of his contract, as well as Callum Wilson and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Sunsport understands United have turned down all of those options as they look for strikers who fit the profile of how the manager wants to line up.

The Reds are also working on moving on players such as Marcus Rashford, who has returned to the club after his loan spell at Aston Villa, as well as Alejandro Garnacho, who the manager said could leave this summer after a falling out.

The Argentine had bneen offered a chance to reunite with his hero Cristiano Ronaldo, but prefers to a move elsewhere.

There are expected to be massive changes across the entire squad as the transfer window takes centre stage in the coming weeks.
