Cifuentes, 43, has signed a three-year deal to take the reins at the King Power Stadium.
He arrived as the replacement for Ruud van Nistelrooy, who left following the club’s relegation from the Premier League.
The Dutchman’s exit came a whole 34 DAYS after the end of the season, despite him having only four wins in 25 league games during his tenure.
He was put on gardening leave in April by his previous side, QPR, as part of his agreement to leave the club.
His exit from Loftus Road came just months after signing a long-term contract with the club.
To make the move to the East Midlands, a £500,000 compensation fee has had to be paid to QPR.
The Catalan-born coach had taken charge of 83 games as R’s boss, winning 29, drawing 23 and losing 31.
Cifuentes said: “It’s a great honour to be appointed Leicester City manager.

Cifuentes will be joined by assistant manager Xavi Calm, who had worked alongside him at QPR.
Leicester chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha has hailed the arrival of the new manager.
He has insisted that Cifuentes can help the club have success throughout his contract.
