BOXING fans were left baffled when the national anthems were sung BEFORE Daniel Dubois and Oleksandr Usyk stepped into the ring.
The surprising protocol change at Wembley Stadium left viewers scratching their heads on social media.
Singer Nadya Dorofeeva sung the Ukraine national anthem
Daniel Dubois entered the ring after both national anthems were performed
One X user said: “Why are they doing the national anthems when the ring is empty lol.”
Another added: “I swear the anthems are played when the fighters are in the ring.”
Mark added on X said: “Why aren’t they doing the national anthems when they are inside the ring.”
The Ukrainian national anthem was performed by singer Nadya Dorofeeva.
And Usyk could be seen singing along in his tracksuit in the tunnel.
Both Usyk and Dorofeeva come from Crimea, and their work has become a symbol of the fight for the rights of Ukrainians.
They have both raised awareness of Russia’s military aggression on international platforms.
Usyk scored an impressive victory against Dubois on Saturday night after the Ukrainian controversially beat him in their first fight in August 2023.
Back then, Dubois floored Usyk in the fifth round.
But the punch was deemed a low blow by the referee, who then allowed The Cat almost four minutes to recover.
Usyk went on to stop the Brit in the ninth round and maintain his stunning unbeaten record.
There was nothing controversial about the Ukrainian’s victory this time however.
Dubois came out more aggressively than in the previous bout and impressed in some of the early rounds.
However, a fifth-round display of rope-a-dope that would make Muhammad Ali proud allowed Usyk to finish the fight with a brutal left hook.
