Dr Robber

THERE is no justification whatsoever for hospital doctors to walk out on their patients for five days.

Their abandonment of a basic duty to the sick means around 250,000 NHS appointments could be cancelled at a cost of £18million as a result of their industrial action from Friday.

It’s a catastrophic amount of time and money lost in a system already struggling to cut waiting times.

But what do the hardline Marxists who have hijacked the BMA care about that?

Do they worry that there is some evidence that their strikes over the past two years led to a number of deaths?

Or is it just all about the cash?

The BMA says it is prepared to fight for months for a “fair” pay demand of 29 per cent

But the public aren’t fooled.

They know greed when they see it.

It’s a loser

AFTER a 12-week consultation, Treasury officials today begin sifting through responses to their mad plan for a flat-rate tax of at least 21 per cent on any profits made by the bookies.

Labour’s nanny state backbenchers — always looking to hammer anything connected to gambling or having fun — think it’s a great idea.

In reality, it would be a disaster for hard-working voters, including those living in swathes of marginal seats.

Firstly, it’s a tax on jobs, since it will clobber firms who employ tens of thousands of people

And, secondly, it will whack horse racing and other sports which rely on gambling revenue for sponsorship.

As Nick Timothy MP writes, it could even force the closure of entire racecourses.

Labour’s tax hikes have already had a disastrous impact on British business, and pubs in particular.

Chancellor Rachel Reeves should axe not only this so-called “tax equalisation” plan — but also the idea of ANY new taxes on gambling, including hugely popular online bingo

Otherwise, she should expect her party to face big losses at the ballot box.

Re-sellout

LABOUR repeatedly insisted that a Youth Mobility scheme under a new relationship with the EU would be capped and limited.

Now we find out under-30s from the EU could come here and stay for up to THREE YEARS.

It means potentially millions of EU citizens coming here and taking jobs

All while millions of Brits sit at home on benefits.

That’s not a Brexit “reset”.

It’s a cynical return to freedom of movement by the back door.
