All closures have since been lifted following the incident, with delays clearing quickly, National Highways said.

Meanwhile there are 45-minute delays on the M25 anti-clockwise in Kent due to an incident between J5 (A21/Chipstead) and J4.

National Highways said on X: “Lane 1 (of 3) is closed following a lorry trailer fire.”

It added that recovery had almost reached the scene, and there’s around seven miles of congestion.

Chaos continues to unfold on the M25 as a broken down coach has closed two of four lanes on the motorway, anti-clockwise between J6 (Godstone) and J5 (A21/Chipstead).

Recovery is said to be on its way – but there are delays of up to 45 minutes on approach with five miles of congestion.
