A FORMER Army colonel stalked his ex after she ended their four-year relationship and fitted a tracker to her car.
Terry Southwood, 57, reluctantly moved out of mum-of-four Sarah Crossley-Weir’s home when she told him she no longer wanted to see him.
He then embarked on a “relentless” campaign in an attempt to win her back, bombarding her with messages professing love and calling on her, a court heard.
Fearful Ms Crossley-Weir had alarms and cameras installed, took medication for anxiety and was given a police phone.
She found out about the tracker days after he left flowers at her Dorset home in what she called a “deeply traumatic” time.
The court heard she was left with “an abject fear of being in my own home”.
Retired Royal Army Medical College officer Southwood, whose 37-year career was described as “exemplary”, in part blamed PTSD for his conduct.
Judge Susan Evans told Southwood that his offending was persistent and prolonged but spared him jail after hearing glowing character references.
The delivery manager, of East Stour, Dorset, admitted stalking at Bournemouth crown court.
He got a 12-month community order with 120 hours of unpaid work and 25 rehabilitation days.
