Horror as powerboat crashes into house at water sports centre with cops and paramedics swarming the area

A POWERBOAT has smashed into a house at a water sports centre with cops and paramedics rushing to the scene.

The “serious marine collision” is understood to have taken place in Oulton Broad, Suffolk, at around 7.10pm on Thursday.

It is understood a powerboat ploughed into a stationary houseboat at the Oulton Broad Water Sports Centre.

East of England Ambulance Service paramedics and the coastguard are also at the scene.

It is not yet known whether there have been any injuries or fatalities.

The Marine Accident Investigation Bureau has also launched an urgent probe into the incident.

It is understood a race was taking place at the water sports venue at 6pm this evening, although it has not been confirmed whether this is linked to the crash.

A spokesperson from Suffolk Constabulary said: “Emergency services are currently on the scene of a serious marine collision at Oulton Broad.

“Officers were called just after 7:10pm this evening, Thursday 24 July, to reports of a collision involving a powerboat and a stationary houseboat in the vicinity of Oulton Broad Water Sports Centre.

“The East of England Ambulance Service, Coastguard are also on the scene and we are liaising closely with the Marine Accident Investigation Bureau (MAIB).”

The Oulton Broad Water Sports Centre and The Marine Accident Investigation Bureau were contacted for comment.
