ADAM Keighran cannot afford to dwell on what might have been – he is making an around-the-word dash to make the birth of his second child.

The Catalans star was sin binned for dumping Wigan’s Kai Pearce-Paul on his shoulder as they were a man down for a quarter of the game.

Adam Keighran was sent to the sin bin as Catalans lost the Grand Final – now he is dashing to Australia to be with his wife as she gives birthSWPIX.COM

But there was no sulking at home, he was on a plane to his native Australia yesterday after wife Taylee held on to give him a chance of making it.

“I’ve got to get back, my daughter was meant to be born a week ago,” said Keighran, who ironically will be a Wigan player in 2024.

“But my wife’s held on, hopefully I get back and everything’s fine.

“For the last eight weeks, I lived on my own in France as my wife couldn’t fly after she was 32 weeks’ pregnant. The due date was originally October 24, then it was moved to October 8!

“There have been a couple of close calls. It’s been an emotional rollercoaster, that’s for sure.”

Centre Keighran, 26, wanted to bow out a history maker after Catalans had a huge impact on his career and life.

And he believes bigger things will come, adding: “It’s been one of the most enjoyable years of our life.

“The pride in the club is second to none, I’d never experienced a game like the semi-final in my life – everyone got behind us.

“And the environment is better than in Australia. Seeing the community get involved brings more out of me as a player – that’s why this hurts so much.

“It’s always good to join a successful team but we’re disappointed.”
