MANCHESTER UNITED fans have already grown frustrated with one of their star players – two weeks before the start of the season proper.

Angry supporters have demanded that Manuel Ugarte is added to the club’s “bomb squad” after a costly mistake in Sunday night’s 2-2 pre-season draw with Everton.

The Red Devils failed to win for the first time on their pre-season tour of the USA as they played out a feisty draw with the Toffees.

And Ugarte made a sloppy error to gift Everton their first goal of the match when he was dispossessed deep in his own half.

Ugarte, who could cost Man Utd as much as £50.7m with add-ons included, was trying to dribble away from the box and launch a counter-attack when he had his pocket picked by Vitaliy Mykolenko.

The Ukrainian easily stuck a leg out to rob Ugarte of the ball and tip it towards teammate Idrissa Gana Gueye.

Gueye then floated a delicious cross to the back post where Iliman Ndiaye tucked home an equaliser to punish Ugarte’s mistake.

United supporters were less than impressed with the error, lashing out at Ugarte online afterwards.

One wrote: “We need to somehow offload Ugarte and find a replacement ASAP. He’s so so poor on the ball. Just well below par.”

While another added: “I desperately want Ugarte to be the man, but it’s obvious we can’t get any consistency in the midfield with him.”

A third posted: “Ugarte’s touches are very poor. This guy isn’t good enough to play for United.”

And a fourth fumed: “Add Ugarte to the bomb squad”.

Ruben Amorim already has a “bomb squad” full of unwanted stars that he needs to offload this summer.

Marcus Rashford was the first to go after sealing his loan move to Barcelona, while Alejandro Garnacho, Antony and Jadon Sancho are amongst the high-earning names that are heading for the exit doors.

Rasmus Hojlund, who has also been linked with an exit, has vowed to stay and “fight” for his place in the squad, despite Amorim hoping to bring in Benjamin Sesko before the window shuts.

Hojlund failed to find the net in Sunday’s draw and found himself furious after Patrick Dorgu didn’t square him the ball for an easy opportunity to build some confidence.

The misfiring striker lashed out at the woodwork instead, kicking the post before berating Dorgu for snubbing the pass in favour of going for goal himself.

Hojlund wasn’t the only United player to show some frustration during the draw, with captain Burno Fernandes involved in a scuffle in the second half.

Fernandes, 30, clashed with Everton’s Iliman Ndiaye on the half-way line in ugly scenes that saw both players shown yellow cards.

With United leading 2-1, the Portuguese playmaker was chasing Ndiaye as the Toffees launched a counter attack when he appeared to kick out at the Senegal international as he skipped away from him.

Ndiaye was incensed by the lunging kick, which seemingly had no chance of nicking the ball away, and immediately turned to confront Fernandes.

Tempers began to flare from there with the pair trading shoves on the half-way line and attracting the interest of teammates who tried to pull them apart.

It tarnished an otherwise impressive outing for the pair who had both found the net earlier in the game.

Fernandes opened the scoring in the 18th minute with a calmly taken penalty after James Tarkowski brought down Amad Diallo in the area.

While Ndiaye was the Everton man to level the scores in the 39th minute when he scored off the back of Ugarte’s error.

Fernandes later set up Mason Mount‘s 69th minute goal for United, making a clever sideways pass into the box for Mount to spectacularly send curling into the far corner of Jordan Pickford‘s net.

Before youngster Ayden Heaven turned the ball into his own goal just over five minutes later after Amad’s attempted tackle on Dwight McNeil deflected onto his leg and into the back of the net to level the scores.
