Dozens of attendees have took to social media to say they were evacuated from an area of the park after a blaze broke out in a bathroom.

No injuries were reported and staff managed to tackle the flames before fire crews arrived.

Alton Towers said the fire was quickly dealt with and that the evacuation of the area was merely a precaution.

Alton Towers said the fire was “small and contained” and thanked guests for their cooperation.

The blaze reportedly started in a small electrical extractor fan before being tackled.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police told The Sun: “We were called at 3pm today (Monday 11 August) to Alton Towers resort in Staffordshire following reports of a small fire.

“Crews ventilated the area and used tools to stop the fire spreading.
Firefighters left the scene shortly before 4.30pm.”

A spokesperson for Alton Towers told the Mirror: “Earlier today, a small, contained fire was discovered by a colleague in a toilet facility within the Forbidden Valley area of the Resort.
