AMIR KHAN is ready to plot talks with Anthony Joshua over a fight in Nigeria after announcing a boxing event in Lagos.

Khan will promote a show on October 1 with Rocky Fielding coming out of retirement to face American Brandon Glanton at cruiserweight.

Former British light-heavyweight champion Dan Azeez – of Nigerian heritage – is also in action.

AJ – whose parents are both Nigerian – has always been linked with fighting in Africa and his team even held talks for a bout in Ghana.

And with Khan taking the first step to promoting big-time boxing in Nigeria – he is ready to help bring Joshua back to his roots.

He told SunSport: “Why not? Definitely.

“He’s probably looking at Ghana as an option, he’s had an interview with his team, his team went over to Ghana.

“So I’m sure after Nigeria, the same thing’s gonna happen again. I think Nigeria for them would be more ideal because that’s where AJ is from, you know what I mean?

“I think that makes more sense than doing it in Ghana. On a serious note, 100 per cent I would.

“I’m the type of guy to do that. And sometimes I’m too honest for my own good.

“I work with everyone, I worked with every promoter and left me on good terms, they’ve never said nothing bad about me.

“What’s the worst thing they’re gonna say that I made too much money or made too much money from them!

“That’s the worst thing they’re gonna say about me, but everything was contracted and obviously that’s why I got paid and then sometimes they can’t take that.

“But look, I’m happy to work with everyone, but like I said, we’ll see.”

Joshua, 35, has been out of the ring since September 2024 when he was knocked out by Daniel Dubois, 27, at Wembley.

But he has since undergone elbow surgery and looks set to return to the ring early next year with talks ongoing to do so.

Joshua was then in shock negotiations to fight Jake Paul.

But the YouTuber-turned-boxer has since announced a November 14 exhibition bout with Gervonta Davis in Atlanta.

That is despite the FIVE STONE difference between cruiserweight Paul, 28, and WBA lightweight champion Davis, 30.

Retired Khan, 38, blasted: “It is disgusting and you know, someone’s gonna end up getting hurt really badly in all this exhibition of boxing.

“That’s why I respect Turki Alalshikh saying that he doesn’t want nothing to do with these YouTubers and these exhibition fights.

“And not only that, how can you take it seriously? You look at this weight difference.

“It’s a mismatch and I just hope someone’s not gonna end up getting hurt one day as it’s gonna put boxing down.

“And that’s why if you look at the sport, this is why MMA is doing so well and that people are respecting it more.

“You don’t get these dummies coming in and fighting a real MMA fighter, you know what I’m saying?”
