VIKTOR GYOKERES scored his first Arsenal goal – with an assist from fellow new signing Martin Zubimendi.

The Swedish striker’s transfer saga was one of the main talking points of the summer window.

But he let his football do the talking with his well-timed header to break the deadlock against Athletic Bilbao on 34 minutes after Zubimendi’s fine cross.

Less than 120 seconds later, Bukayo Saka tapped in to make it 2-0.

And Gyokeres’ replacement Kai Havertz turned home expertly late on to wrap up the comfortable victory.

But after the 3-0 result, both teams came back on to the Emirates pitch for a needless penalty shootout.

Ethan Nwaneri missed his spot kick before Bilbao blew the chance to win it.

Arsenal recovered and eventually Zubimendi struck the winning effort as the Gunners won 6-5 on penalties.
