He spent 13 years at the Gunners before leaving permanently, having made just eight appearances under Wenger.

Lansbury, 34, had several loan spells at the likes of West Ham, Norwich and Watford before moving to Nottingham Forest on a permanent deal in 2012.

He made 150 appearances for Forest before spells at Aston Villa, Bristol City and Luton Town – he retired from football in 2023 after struggling with injury issues.

After hanging up his boots Lansbury focused his time on his grass fertiliser company Grass Gains.

His love for gardening was born in lockdown after a gardener was unable to attend to his lawn.

Soon the former England youth was mowing three times a week before he decided to launch his own products to help fellow enthusiasts get the best out of their back garden.

Grass Gains fertiliser is now sold in Homebase and Lansbury has mown the pitches at Arsenal‘s Hale End academy.

He has also worked on pitches at Fulham, Monaco and Genk, while Grass Gains’ ‘Lawn Bulk’ fertiliser has received glowing reviews from the likes of Micah Richards, ex-Luton star Tom Lockyer and former Wales international James Chester.

Lansbury is now set to don his football boots again as Baller League UK kicks off for its inaugural tournament.

He will feature for VZN FC, managed by Tobi Brown, alongside former Liverpool and Watford star Jerome Sinclair.

Baller League UK is a six-aside tournament consisting of managed by some high profile figures such as Gary Lineker, Alan Shearer, Micah Richards, John Terry and Maya Jama.

Each team has 12 players in their squad to choose from, with rolling subs.

Matches, all played at London’s Copper Box Arena and shown live on Sky Sports, are 30 minutes long – split into two halves of 15 minutes.

However in the last three minutes of each half, there is a major shake-up.

That includes a random selection of various crazy “gamechangers” including a 3v3 format, long-range goals counting as double and goalkeepers not being allowed to use their hands.

Offsides are part of the rules but corners are ditched.
