The Forth Worth Fire Department, MedStar, and multiple other emergency responders have responded to the scene.

One patient is reported as critically injured, two are seriously injured, and the rest are minor injuries.

Craig Trojacek, public information officer for Fort Worth Fire Department, said during a media briefing that the cause of the explosion is being investigated but there is a smell of gas downtown.

Nine of the victims have been transfered to local hospitals.

Immediately after the blast, the owner of the hotel told the fire department one person was still unaccounted for.

Officials told the media they were unable to confirm whether this was still the case.

“There is a smell of gas in the area and there were windows and things blown out in the area,” Trojacek said during the press conference.

“It looks like some type of gas leak but we have not confirmed that at this time.

“We are not sure if the smell of gas was caused by the explosion or if that’s what caused the explosion.”

People should avoid the area.

The fire department has instructed anyone looking for someone involved in the incident to go to the family reunification center at Sundance Square.

“The family reunification area for those who were involved in the downtown incident this afternoon will be at SUNDANCE SQUARE,” the fire department said.

“If you are looking for a loved one, please go to Sundance Square (420 Main Street) for more information.”
