A SIX-MONTH-OLD baby has died days after she was struck by a suspected drink and drug driver in a multi-storey car park.

Little Sophia Kelemen was hit by a Nissan Qashqai in the ground floor of the seaside car park in Tenby, Pembrokeshire.

Sophia is believed to have been visiting the popular resort with her family and friends when the tragedy happened on January 2.

The driver Flaviu Naghi, 33, from Wigan, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving.

He was said to be operating the vehicle without a license and without insurance.

In a statement on Facebook, Dyfed-Powys Police wrote: “Sadly, we can confirm that a 6-month-old baby girl has died following a collision on the ground floor of the multi-storey car park in Tenby on January 2.

“Sophia Kelemen, from the Leigh, Manchester area, was taken to hospital but died of her injuries on January 3.

“Our thoughts remain with her family at this difficult time.”

Baby Sophia’s family are now being supported by specially trained officers, according to cops.

The driver appeared at Swansea Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 4th January, where he was further remanded to appear before Swansea Crown Court on 7th February.

He was also arrested on suspicion of drink driving and drug driving and has been released on bail for these offences.

Facebook users have responded to the police statement, posting heartfelt tributes for Sophia and her family.

One wrote: “Rest in peace little one, praying for justice to be done”

Another added: “Poor little baby, rest in paradise little one.”

A third user responded: “Rest in paradise you sweet little angel.”

Pictures of the youngster dressed in pink have racked up thousands of reactions on social media.

Cops added: “This is a tragic incident and is a live investigation.

“We ask that you do not speculate the circumstances.”
