Three people have been reported dead dead, including a 41-year-old woman and an 8-month-old child.

Local police said officers near Centennial Park spotted two groups of people getting into an altercation before the teenager opened fire.

An 18-year-old man, who is believed to have been in one of the groups, was also killed.

A 16-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of the shooting but is yet to be identified.

Social media posts showed a heavy police presence at the scene.

The police returned fire, but did not hit the suspect, they said.

The wounded teenagers, a male and a female, were both hit in their arms, but it was not clear if they were connected to the groups involved, the police added.

One local, who witnessed the attacked, posted: “I live next to there! I was outside, heard like 6-7 shots and nonstop cops racing down. Drove around to see and saw cops with guns looking for someone.”

West Valley City Police Department said: “There has been a shooting at WestFest, which was underway at Centennial Park.

“Several people are hurt. PIO is en route. Media: standby for staging.”
