A BBC newsman flashed a presenter just before she went live on air — but kept his job after being ordered to apologise.

The employee exposed himself after returning to the office drunk from a staff Christmas party.

A BBC newsman flashed a presenter just before she went live on air but kept his jobRex

His disgusted colleague managed to compose herself to deliver the nightly news bulletin.

Bosses were told about the incident but the reporter kept his job after he agreed to phone the presenter to apologise.

He is now working elsewhere at the corporation.

The incident dominated chatter at the regional news programme in 2015 and has resurfaced in the wake of the Russell Brand scandal.

A source said: “He had been at the Christmas party and was very drunk. Just before 10.30pm, as she was about to go on air, he came to the studio door and got his willy out in front of her.”

“There was general disgust at what happened but growing outrage that it went unchallenged.

“If she complained formally they would take it further; if she didn’t then it would simply be airbrushed from time. Until now, no one knew he had been told to apologise.”

The BBC declined to comment on the flashing incident but insisted: “We treat any allegations of this nature very seriously.”
