However, during coverage of the round two match between Zhang Anda and Stuart Bingham, Davis called for a big change after seeing a shot from Bingham.

In the eighth frame of the contest with Bingham 2-5 ahead, the 48-year-old hit a soft shot towards the yellow.

However, the cue ball ended up veering slightly off to the side, which was enough to see it roll past the yellow without hitting it due to the little amount of power used.

Reacting to the shot, Davis – a six-time world champion and four-time UK Championship winner – said: “This table needs to be releveled if that’s happening.”

It saw Bingham, 48, give up four penalty points to Zhang, before the World No.11 went on to win the frame 82-2.

Bingham eventually went on to lose the match 6-5 from a 5-1 lead.

Earlier in the game he pointed his cue at a photographer and later branded him as his “kryptonite” for distracting him after fluffing the chance to score a maximum break of 147.

After the game he said: “It was a photographer.

“He ran in just before I was taking that shot. Photographers just seem to be my kryptonite.”

After setting up a quarter-final against World No.1 Judd Trump, Zhang, 32, said: “It was a very tough game and for the first session I did nothing wrong.

“Just some safety play which was bad and Stuart took his chances.

“At 5-1 down I tried everything to win and not let the pressure beat me.”

The last eight clash between Zhang and Trump takes place from 1pm today.

Trump vs Wilson

SNOOKER’s Class of ’92 are fading away – with two English superstars ready to forge a new era.

Judd Trump has declared he’s ready to battle reigning world champion Kyren Wilson for “the next 10 years” or more.

Current world No 1 Trump admitted Wilson’s meteoric rise over the last twelve months has “pushed him forward” as a player.

The Class of ’92 refers to the legendary trio of Ronnie O’Sullivan, John Higgins, and Mark Williamson.

With 14 world titles among them, the three players have dominated UK snooker over the past three decades.

But as their powers begin to fade, Wilson and Trump appear ready to fill the rivalry vacuum.
