The former Spurs star praised Levy, 63, for making the club a financial juggernaut with a promising future after 24 years in the role.
In doing so, Redknapp compared the condition of the club with Levy’s exit to how it was left by Lord Sugar following his tenure as chairman and part-owner between 1991 and 2001.
He labelled what Levy inherited in 2001 as a “total mess”.
And Sugar, 78, did not react kindly to the remarks.
Taking to social media, he made threats of legal action against “double barrel idiot” Redknapp and broadcaster Sky.
He said: “Jamie Redknapp is a double barrel idiot.
“He talks a load of rubbish.
“He said when Daniel Levy took over Spurs Alan Sugar left the club in a right mess.

SunSport have approached Sky Sports for comment.

Pape Matar Sarr kicked off a mad 17 minute spell when he headed into the net at a corner unmarked.
Minutes later Tomas Soucek was sent off following a late lunge on Joao Palhinha which ripped the Spurs star’s sock above the shin guard.
Lucas Bergvall and Micky van de Ven then added the second and third goals to put Thomas Frank‘s side level on points with table-toppers Arsenal – and only behind on goal difference.
