THE Euro 2024 qualifying match between Belgium and Sweden has been halted with both sides deciding to abandon the game after two Swedish football fans were shot dead.
Two men, both wearing Sweden shirts, had been killed in the street before the game in Brussels around three miles from the King Baudouin Stadium where the match was being played.
Sweden and Belgium both agreed not to continue the contest during halftime with the score nodded up 1-1.
The 35,000 fans in attendance were held in the stadium for hours after the city was on high terror alert and the assailant was not in custody.
Cops have launched an urgent manhunt following the shooting just after 7 pm BST this evening.
Belgium Prime Minister Alexander De Croo has asked residents to be “vigilant.”
