Alex was spotted by a delivery driver after a 22 mile hike. The lad, now 17, phoned home and was soon returned to safety.

Little Ben Needham was playing at his grandparents’ farmhouse on the Greek island of Kos when he disappeared on July 24, 1991.

British police believe Ben was killed by a digger driver near the farmhouse in a tragic accident.

Now Ben’s mum Kerry, speaking to the Mirror, has said how Alex’s recent return to safety has given her fresh hope.

She said: “It shows miracles do happen and missing children do turn up even after several years.

“Although the circumstances are very different, it gives me hope. I will never give up on the fact there’s always a chance my son could turn up too.”

Kerry believes he could still be alive and has launched an appeal to translate missing posters into all 7,000 world languages.

She said: “It would be incredible if we could have the poster translated into every single language, as you never know who might see it and come forward with information.

“If anyone can help, I would be so grateful. It might lead to finally finding out what happened to Ben.”

A member of the public offered to translate the poster into German.

Kerry added: “It was a great idea and of course we said yes. I don’t know why we didn’t think of it sooner. There has always been a Greek poster, but no others as far as I know.”

Ben vanished more than three decades ago while playing at his grandparents’ farmhouse.

Kerry had recently moved to Kos from Sheffield, to start a new life with her family, when the tragedy happened.

She had left her son with her grandparents while she went to work.
Ben had been coming in and out of the home – a farmhouse that was being renovated by the family – when, at around 2.30pm, it was discovered the young child had disappeared.
