Spokane Valley Fire Department responded to the fire in the early hours of Friday morning.
They shared pictures of huge flames and thick smoke rising from the stadium.
Thankfully there were no injuries reported.
A statement from the fire department read, “At approximately 2:55 am on Friday, September 5, Spokane Valley Fire Department (SVFD) and City of Spokane Fire Department crews responded to reports of smoke and flames coming from a building in the 600 block of N. Havana Street.
“Arriving units found fire burning through the roof of a concessions building at Avista Stadium and quickly upgraded the call to a working fire.
“Firefighters launched an aggressive interior attack.
“But access challenges and a partial collapse of the metal roof forced crews to withdraw and transition to a defensive operation.
“Thanks to quick action, the fire was contained to the concessions stand and prevented from spreading to nearby structures.
“The building, however, sustained significant damage.
“No injuries were reported.
“SVFD investigators are on scene to determine the cause of the fire.
“Crews are expected to remain on site through the morning as the scene remains active.”
The ballpark opened 67 years ago in 1958.
It has been home to the Spokane Indians ever since.
The Spokane RiverHawks and Gonzaga Bulldogs have also played at the stadium.
